Er zijn veel traditionele manieren om microorganismen te identificeren. Er is echter een nieuwe fase is aangebroken in de microbiologie, identificatie op basis van DNR/RNA. Bij WFC hebben we gekozen om identificaties door middel van Whole Genome Sequencing in eigen beheer uit te voeren. In het verleden was deze methode, duur en tijdrovend. Nu echter zijn we in staat om binnen 48-72 uur een goede identificatie op basis van de genomen van bacterien uit te kunnen voeren voor een concurerende prijs. Een snelle en volledigere identificatie van soorten Salmonella en Listeria behoren hiermee tot de mogelijkheden. Ook zijn identificaties van andere soorten eenvoudiger en breder toegankelijk geworden.
